Multicultural Clinical Consultation for Therapists

Ongoing relational and systemic consultation for therapists across disciplines · English + Español

That Helps You Think, Not Just Do

Clinical consultation is about more than reviewing cases or choosing interventions. It is a space to slow down, think together, and explore what may be difficult to see when you are holding a case on your own.

At Multicultural & Spanish Therapist Group, we believe clinical competence develops through reflection, experience, curiosity, and the gradual development of sound clinical judgment. Our goal is not to tell you exactly how to practice, but to help you become a more confident, ethical, thoughtful, and intentional clinician.

Our multicultural and relational approach looks beyond the individual. Together, we consider the relationships, cultures, identities, family systems, social contexts, and lived experiences that shape both the client and the therapeutic process.

Who Is Multicultural Clinical Consultation For?

Multicultural Clinical Consultation is for marriage and family therapists, counselors, social workers, and other mental health professionals who want to deepen their relational understanding of complex clinical situations and respond with greater clarity and intention.

You do not need to work primarily with couples or families. Every client exists within relationships and systems that influence how problems develop, how they are understood, and what becomes possible in therapy.

It may be a good fit if:

  • A case feels stuck, fragmented, or more complex than its presenting symptoms suggest.

  • You want to recognize relational patterns that may be missed when the focus remains primarily on the individual.

  • You work with couples, families, children, or individuals whose closest relationships are central to their concerns.

  • You want to integrate culture, identity, migration, language, community, and social context into case conceptualization.

  • You need room to explore clinical uncertainty without being handed a rigid formula or prescribed response.

  • You want to strengthen your own clinical judgment while developing an approach that remains authentic to you.

Our Approach to Clinical Consultation

At Multicultural & Spanish Therapist Group, clinical consultation is more than reviewing cases or discussing interventions. It is a collaborative professional relationship where curiosity, reflection, and clinical growth happen together.

Our approach is guided by the Neosystemic Framework, which helps therapists understand clients within the context of their relationships, culture, identity, family systems, social environments, and lived experiences. Rather than focusing only on techniques, we help you strengthen the clinical reasoning and cultural responsiveness needed to make thoughtful decisions that fit each client and situation.

Our goal is not to create therapists who think alike. It is to help you develop a stronger clinical foundation while building an approach that is reflective, intentional, and authentic to you.

Our supervision is:

• Collaborative rather than hierarchical.

• Reflective rather than prescriptive.

• Relational rather than technique-driven.

• Culturally responsive.

• Grounded in clinical reasoning.

• Focused on lifelong professional growth.

We believe therapists grow best when they feel both supported and challenged. Learning happens through dialogue, thoughtful reflection, and exploring the clinical process together—not simply by being told what to do.

How Clinical Consultation Works

Multicultural Clinical Consultation is offered as an ongoing virtual group led by Nelliana Acuña. The group meets weekly, with new groups beginning at selected times throughout the year.

Each meeting combines case consultation, collaborative reflection, and focused clinical teaching. Participants bring clinical situations, questions, and moments of uncertainty that allow the group to examine relational patterns, cultural and contextual influences, the therapist’s participation in the process, and the different possibilities for moving the work forward.

The group is designed to help therapists develop relational thinking over time—not by memorizing a single model or following predetermined interventions, but by repeatedly practicing how to to observe, conceptualize, and respond to complex clinical situations.
