Nelliana Acuna
LMFT-S
Founder, Clinical Director | Bilingual Therapist
Online Across Texas & Florida
Since beginning her clinical work in 2008, Nelliana has supported individuals, couples, and families navigating trauma, relationships, identity, cultural transitions, and complex family dynamics. As a Latina immigrant, she understands how culture, family, language, migration, and lived experience can shape emotional well-being and relationships.
Nelliana founded Multicultural Therapist with a clear vision: to create a practice where these experiences are treated as essential parts of a person’s story—not as background details. As the practice’s founder and clinical leader, she shapes its therapeutic vision, guides the development of the team, and helps ensure that clients receive thoughtful, culturally responsive care.
Her work also includes developing the Neosystemic Framework and supporting therapists through clinical supervision, mentorship, and training. Bringing together clinical experience, cultural awareness, and organizational leadership, Nelliana is committed to building a practice where both clients and therapists can grow.
Why I Created Multicultural Therapist
I created Multicultural Therapist because I believe effective therapy must consider the cultural, relational, and systemic contexts shaping people’s lives.
I wanted to build more than a place where clients could find therapists from diverse backgrounds. My vision was to create a practice with a shared clinical foundation—one where therapists remain curious, collaborative, and attentive to the relationships, cultures, identities, and experiences influencing each person’s story.
This vision led me to develop the Neosystemic Framework, an approach that brings together systemic thinking, cultural responsiveness, and relational practice. Today, it guides how we understand our clients’ experiences, develop our therapists, and support meaningful, lasting change.
Building a practice where people can understand their experiences, navigate life’s challenges, and discover new possibilities for healing and growth.
My Work & Background
-
I continue to work with clients because staying connected to the therapy room remains an important part of who I am and how I lead.
I especially enjoy supporting:
Individuals navigating identity, culture, immigration, or major life transitions
Couples exploring how culture influences love, communication, and conflict
Families reconnecting across generations, languages, and cultural differences
Parents raising children between cultures
People who want to embrace every part of their story without feeling they must choose between different identities, relationships, or worlds

Outside of my clinical and leadership work, I enjoy teaching, writing, developing new ideas, and continuing to learn.
I’m deeply curious about people, relationships, and the different ways culture shapes how we understand ourselves and one another. That curiosity continues to influence how I work, lead, and create.story, and feel freer to live authentically.
